It is called 'Fibromyalgia'. Usually, fibromyalgia co-exists with Chronic Fatigue Disease. There are some medications that provide some kind of relief for some kind of symptoms. You will have to try a variety of different meds before you find the 'combination' that works for you.
Most patients start with a Rheumatologist. If you are very lucky, you will find a doctor who understands this condition and can help. But, trust me, it may take you awhile to find that doctor. There are still some doctors out there who do not consider it a 'real' condition, and refer to it as the wastebasket condition. Do not give up hope. Try different doctors, be persistent and forceful. And if a med is not working for you, tell the doctor to try something else. It took several years before we could find a combination of medicines that helped me. One is always an anti-depressant because of how anti-depressants work. They increase serotonin levels in your system which helps to ease some of the pain. It has NOTHING to do with being depressed. Many doctors will try to pin that on you. It is wrong. Another med that helps is arthritis-type meds, such as Celebrex. You may also have trouble sleeping, and so you will need something to relax your tight muscles, ligaments, soft tissue, etc. I use a mild dose of Flexeril. If you feel anxious the doctor may give you something for that, too. I have found a natural aid to help with my sleep. I get it at a health store and it is called "Menopause Formula" Don't let the name bother you. The important thing are the ingredients which are: Black Cohosh, Licorice, Alfalfa, Dong Quai and Red Raspberry. My husband even takes a capsule at bedtime and it helps him tremendously.
