how to easily put a driveshaft back in?

i was working on my 85 camaro replacing my rear end and when i went to puull it out the drive shaft got caught on it and i accidentally pulled it out and its leaking fluid, how do i put it back in properly, just shuve it back in? what fluid is leaking transmission fluid?

Yes, its tranny fluid,Just slide the shaft back in,as long as the seal is still good the leaking will stop,dont forget to check and refill the tranny fluid when you are done.P.S. make sure the shaft is clean befor you put it back in.

Should be OK to put back in. I have done many transmissions, and have never worried about what direction I put the driveshaft back in, and have never had any problems. It is transmission fluid coming from your transmission output spline. Usually, you want to mark the driveshaft before you remove it, for balancing reasons, but like I said, I have never had a problem with just shovin it back in. If there is any wobble, you might have a bent driveshaft, very uncommon.

Have the yoke level, carefully insert it through the seal, and turn to align the splines and it will slide back in.
