Go to the wii settings (the wii icon on the bottom right of the screen) then the screen will go black.
Wait a few seconds then the settings will pop up.
Click on the right arrow
Click it till you see INTERNET
Click INTERNET
Click CONNECTION SETTINGS
Click CONNECTION 1,2 or 3
Click SEARCH FOR AN ACCESS POINT
Click on the Access Point you want to connect to
If the lock is blue and unlocked click it the click YES
If the lock is red and locked, you have to put in a WEP code
If the lock is grey and locked don't click it,it has no settings suitable for the wii
Click OK after you click YES
If its successful you can update your wii
If you already updated your wii then you don't have to update it
If the wii can't update, that doesn't mean you can't have the internet

Okay. When you turn on the Wii and you see all those channels, click the Wii logo at the bottom left corner of the screen. Go to Wii Settings I think that's what it's called and keep scrolling through all the options. Eventually, you'll see the Internet button (between something and WiiConnect24). Click that, enter your Internet settings, it'll test your connection, and you're ready to go :)

you have to go to the settings in main menu to access and setup your internet connection. As for the channels, that come after you get the internet and they are pretty much just add ons from the internet. EX... weather network, ESPN, that kind of thing.
