PC webcam not working after complete comp format?

I just had my computer set to factory settings or whatever and now it only has Windows software on it - none of the Sony software it had before so it refuses to turn on the webcam (which is an actual piece of the laptop, not a separate device btw) since it used to run on the Vaio Camera Capture Utility, which is gone. So far I can only find updates for the program, which do not work as I don't have the original program at all.

also the model is vgn-cr123e

In which operating system your computer is running?
In windows 7 or vista mean
Go to device manager and set the camera Brightness contrast ..
go the url this will help you

Still using windows xp mean
What else to try: download missing web cam drivers!

If it does not work on your issue, I'd suggest you installing the Vista driver in Compatibility mode. Remove and rescan that hardware device in
Device Manager, right-click on the driver executable/installer file -> Properties
select the Compatibility tab;
click the check box before Run this program in Compatibility mode for option and select Windows Vista in the list-down box; then try installing the device driver.

i hope it will useful to you

download device doctor and let it scan ur computer.. then after the scan,, there is a list of file for each different hardware/software that is attached to ur computer but not yet installed..

look for a file that has some keyword for the webcam u used. click it and download it then install..
