While in some areas it may be legal to perform massage on pets with no additional training, it is critical that you are trained in pet massage. Not only that, your training needs to include specialization for the specific types of pets you intend to work on. The most popular is horse massage, for racehorses... (As a side note, if you are good, you can make bunches of money going down that route!) That would be an actual degree program, not just a continuing education class.
Think of it like this: Is a medical doctor qualified to treat animals?
No way! Likewise, as massage therapists trained to work on humans, we are not qualified to work on pets. We could seriously injure them without proper training, or, in the case of larger animals such as horses, be seriously injured ourselves.
