We use goat milk, for a number of reasons: 1) it is closer in composition to human milk than cow's milk is, which makes it easier to digest, 2) babies need fat for brain development - goat milk has similar fat composition to cow's milk, but soy milk does not, 3) there are many conflicting stories about whether soy milk is beneficial or harmful. There are also many varieties of goat cheese (goat cheddar and mozzarella are really quite good) and goat yogurt available.
The only thing to be cautious about is that some children who are allergic to cow's milk might be allergic to goat milk as well.

Goat milk. I've sold lots of milk to lots of people for allergic babies. I'm not a fan of soy at all.
Do not buy the canned or the dry milk. You may have to buy from a local dairy goat owner if legal in your state and pasteurize the milk yourself but goat milk is much better for your child than a fake milk.

My son is allergic to milk as well. I use vanilla soy milk. Soy milk lasts longer and it doesn't taste bad. Goats milk tends to be a little strong (ever smelled goat cheese!!! - yuck)

SHOOT! Dairy hypersensitivity.....ok, yet does the breakfast cereal artwork? My daughter loves applesauce too.

My son was was extend breast fed to 2 years, once he was weaned he never accepted Cow's Milk. I now substitute his recommended daily Calcium intake by using Calcium powder which is derived from Sea Plants. It's very convenient as all he needs is a quarter teaspoon per day which I tend to mix into his food. He does eat Yogurt and cheeses so he doesn't require too much Calcium substitutes....
