What 3 things do you think will become obsolete in the next 5 years?

1--Dishwashers. All it would have to take is for someone to invent a Roomba-like mini-disc. You drop it in the sink, after filling it with dishes and soapy water, and the disc scrubs your dishes for you. You wait half an hour, then take the dishes out, rinse them off and find that they're as clean as anything from the dishwasher. Yeah, it would take a high-output battery that can tolerate being *Wet*, that's the only thing holding it back.

2--Mainstream television. Both over-the-air broadcast and cable TV are going the way of the dinosaur. What'll replace it is a format of portable Satellite Radio player that can also download video files from what's broadcast in orbit. Why will it be replaced? Because at least in the beginning, they'll *Do* what Cable TV originally promised to do, and offer a lot of channels that are FREE of Commercial interruption. As in, you pay your subscription to the service, and get your programming, period. The things that people will call "television" in 5-10 year's time will look a lot like the Sony Video Walkmans that are out there now...only they will tune in to Satellite broadcasts that one can get anywhere with next to no hassle, unlike DTV.

Those will be the big draws: No commercials, no hassle, it's portable, and yet it's still high-definition and in Widescreen For One (tm). ^__^

3--This may take closer to ten years to be *everywhere*, but I'll bet this hits at least *One* major U.S. city, if not 2 or 3, in the next five years. Mass transit--particularly Mass Transit By Bus--will be obsolete. The buses are expensive to buy and maintain, and even so they aren't popular, too many people feel crowded if not attacked by folks they "can't stand", whether the feeling has any basis in reality or not (in some cases it's just plain prejudice really).

So the answer to this will be "Mass Transit Pods". They will be simple, easy-to-drive electric vehicles for 1 or 2 people, not unlike the Aptera that's out now. They will be a bit slow and not have the greatest range--but that's kind of the point. You lease them for a day, are free to drive them for 24 hours, and then have to park them when the time period is up, because the Pod *will* stop and lock up at the end of the day, regardless. You'll have to use specialized charging zones to charge the Pods on the fly, and basically, it'll be rather like the ZipCar system is now, only with a few more restrictions, cheaper access, and easier parking for them all over (maybe even specialized lanes on the roads for them too).

It'll work because even the stingiest politician can say it's an incentive for people to learn how to drive and "maintain" a proper, legal driver's license even in a city where there might be widespread inability to afford full insurance, parking or upkeep on an owned motor vehicle.

Hey, why not dream a little, you know? *lol* ^__^

3, 5, 6, 8, 16, hand written letters shows classification... older styled cameras take more advantageous images then digital. many human beings will prefer to study a real e book then a show. you may promote and commerce them for lots more cost-effective then a kindle... in spite of the very incontrovertible fact that college books could quite get replaced. they are quite overpriced. image frames will continually be sensible in spite of the fabric, and shall we wish they eliminate classified ads. I doubt it when you consider that they play them on the internet besides. commercial is complicated to get faraway from. I easily have a DVR so i can steer away from watching them for the most area. i understand ppl who artwork contained in the postal service so i wish no one loses their interest. Retirement plans were disappearing further and extra, maximum folk will be screwed when you consider that they do no longer set themselves up for this.
