Is my 12 year old to young to live with me for the first time?

I have a 12 year old with a woman in a one night stand, at the beginning I did not take responsibility, after 4 years I realize my life was miserable and had a change of mind, and started a relationship, now I invited him to move for a year with my wife and baby. We live in the US, he lives in Mexico...I would love him to come with us...do you think it would affect his development, that is what the mother thinks...I think it would be a great experience for him, since We only meet in vacations...

Why just a year?  Moving him with you should either be permanent or not at all.  How can you expect him to move from Mexico and adjust to you and your family and a new country and then ship him back to his mom after a year?  I agree with his mother that it would affect him.  I think as a responsible parent you should have talked to her about this before you asked your son.  Given you only see him on vacation I believe his mother should be the one who decides if this would be a great experience for him.
