Poll for veg'ns: What sports, if any, are you a fan of? And by 'fan' I mean...?
...that you follow them closely & have favorite teams or players, etc. If you're not a fan in that sense, then what sports do you just like watching more casually? I'm just curious because one of my co-workers was really shocked to find out that I was a hockey fan the other day. She thought it didn't mesh well with me being vegan for some reason. She tried explaining it to me, but not very well, so I didn't see her point.
Anyway, I've been a big hockey fan since I was maybe 8-10 years old, and I've been veg'n for almost 18 years while my enthusiasm for hockey hasn't changed a bit. Other than that, the only sports I enjoy watching are "extreme" sports like skateboarding, snowboarding, bmx, motocross, ski jumping, x games, etc. (and I love the winter Olympics) but I don't really have any favorites there. I just like watching that stuff when I happen to come across it, which isn't very often, b/c I don't have cable.

I don't really care about sports. I guess it's because I was always clumsy and not very good at them; so I just didn't develop an interest. The only sport I could do in high school was wrestling, but I didn't care enough about it to keep up with all the practicing so I quit.
Since I'm from St. Louis I kind of enjoy the St. Louis Cardinals when it looks like they might win the World Series. But, other than that, I don't pay much attention to baseball or any other sports. I don't even understand all the rules of baseball.
I wouldn't miss the NBA. I would be disappointed if there wasn't an NFL season, but I'm just a casual football fan, so I'd live. I'd be kind of pissed off if there was no baseball for a year, but I don't see that happening any time soon
I'm a skateboarder [not so much now though, just coasting] since I was...10. I'm 22 now, so 12 years. I used to watch X-games, Gravity Games, Skatepark tours, etc up until skateboarding got super popular with everyone and their mothers [that's a NYer phrase btw] on the east coast. As well, I used to watch the same for snowboarding. I have two skate crews, one are a bunch of my J-high friends whom I grew up skating with [we kinda seperated...some had to move for school, some just moved cause of their relationship] and the other are just a bunch of people who started skating in teh spot I grew up skating. My j-high crew knew about my dietary habits since they knew me....the other crew was surprised to know because I'm not 'weak'. But it doesn't change a thing, I still get major respect from everyone.
I'm a traceur [look up Parkour] since before I even knew the style has a name lol. Once I found out about Parkour, I would watch videos on it all the time. Freerunning [Parkour but w/ lots of style and fanciness, which I don't do] isn't a major sport but it's getting popular.
I play football but just for fun, I don't watch it. I used to play baseball [boring], and basketball.
I don't really follow any sports anymore, unless my dad's watching something and I watch with him [usually futbol or cricket]. I just live by the wind.
Being a vegetarian/vegan doesn't make one weak. People need to understand that.
I play tennis and am a fan of the game, but usually cant sit throw a match. Boring to watch.
Baseball is the only sport I'll go out of my way to watch (aside from playoffs in others sports) and will probably watch if I come across it on accident. As well as the x-games and Olympics.
I love LOVE (American) football. I follow the college level more than professional, but if a good game is on, I'm tuned in. I also casually watch women's gymnastics, track and field and woman's figure skating.
