Torchiere / Floor Lamp Shade?

I have a floor lamp but it's one of the ones that is open from the top so you can see the light bulb like a regular one but turned around. It had a glass shade but in my recent move we broke it. I cannot find any of those shades for a resonable price everuthing is like 85 dollars i could buy a need lamp for that lol (economy is still bad) Question is what else can I do to fix it and waste a little I hate looking at that damm bulb

They make lamp shades ( not glass kind. but fabric ) that clip on to the light bulb its self but then the shade would be regular position and bulb illuminating downward, or you could check home depot some times they sell just the glass shades like you are talking about or go on line to the lamp manufautruer and inquire about a replacement part. also garage sales are good places to find replacement parts such as this. good luck

both the torchiere and downward-illuminating floor lamp provide ambient light, the torchiere is more effective in providing non-glaring, soft illumination for entertaining and watching TV. Direct light, provided by floor lamps that direct light downward, is more effective as task-lighting.
