I thought the top part of the banana is the side with the little black thing, i that is were i start and been opening it for years, today my coworkers were laughing at me saying i should open it from the top? wtf??

High Five... I too peel bananas like that only even after lots of ppl saying me to peel it the other way

I've never heard of anyone opening it from the black part, before. Everyone I know - including me - opens it from the top stem by snapping it backwards to open it up. After that, you can peen the skin back in sections :-)
