Is there an ALL natural, home remedy?

Does anyone know an Effective and non-gimicky solution to fleas both/either on the animal and outside in the yard? I have a dog with eczema and 4 others without. I have two out of 5 of them who are terribly allergic to Frontline, which isnt effective with my animals in KY anyway. My vet does not have Confortis or Advantage or Advantix either. I am really interested if there is a Real Effective home remedy or over the counter solution. OR if there is a real Effective medicine I can give my little guys. Thank you.

I don't know about a home remedy, but I wanted you to be aware that you can buy Comfortis, Advantage and Advantix through 1800petmeds.com. As a whole I'm not crazy about that website, but they do have those medications available. I know you're looking for a home remedy so this doesn't help you, but those medications are available online.

The only true effective natural home remedy is a flea comb and a cup of soapy water. However this takes a lot of work because the dogs have to be flea combed everyday and the little buggers drowned. Most people don't do the work involved which makes the method not effective. As far as out in the yard, you can have it sprayed with a good bug killer, however that is not natural. You might want to see if your vet would be willing to special order another product for you to use on your allergic dogs or for all your dogs. You might want to try another vet. Advantix can be found over the counter, the internet and in many pet wholesale catalogs. Advantage is the same. No prescription needed. Of course another natural, safe and effective method would be to move out of Kentucky to another area that has few or no fleas. However that is a method that most people would not use and for many good reasons.

Beneficial nematodes are effective out in the yard, but I am not aware of anything natural for the dogs themselves.

There are sprays you can use in the house that prevent the fleas from breeding, and I have gone to laminate flooring with rugs I can wash, which leaves the fleas no place to hang out when not on the dog.

With that, and once the beneficial nematodes did their job in the yard, I no longer had to use a flea product on my dogs.

Ok- not really a natural method, however you do not have to ingest anythig. Take some Vics vapor rub and smear it all over the bottom of your feet- then put socks on. Your cough should be gone or at least be better soon. Hope this helps. I don't like taking meds either so this helps.

Shampoo him with liquid dishwashing soap like Dawn, Ivory or Joy. This will kill off the fleas that are on the dog and appears to help keep others off.
