Breeding bettas for show?

Question

Does anyone here breed and show bettas? I'll be going to a betta show in June, and I hope to pick up some nice breeding stock. Then, I would like to breed them and enter the young bettas in shows (That is, if they are show quality). I'm hoping to buy some dragon halfmoon plakats, and if I can find them, some purple copper halfmoons. 

So, has anyone ever entered their bettas in shows?

I'm in UK and i breed as well as import show betta breeding lines from Thailand.

We unfortunatley don't have quite a big enough betta fan base to be able to go the full show route with our own UK shows.


Read up well on the ibc form and finnage and choose your betta pairs carefully.

Buy quality show pairs to start with and you'll get there!

You need a section in the aquarium with basically no surface aggitation. Place an oak, almond leaf or bottom of a styrofoam cup in this area to help with the bubble nest. Getting the male to build the bubble nest is step one. By conditioning I hope you are feeding a high protein, mostly insect diet. That is the best for bettas.

I haven't, but you'll probably have better luck joining a Yahoo group for betta fish. There are quite a lot of them, trying posting a question on there, that way only people who own and breed bettas will respond.
