yes i live in los angeles, and i have seen people [[here on Y!A}telling other person if the stop handle on the bus is not
displayed even thought the red lights are flashing you don't have to stop.?
but there are a lot of old school buses that don't have the stop sign on the bus just the flashing lights
so aren't you suppose to stop anyway?

I have seen a lot of people on Y!A that have no idea what they are talking about as well. If the RED LIGHTS are flashing you have to STOP. If the Yellow lights are flashing you have to SLOW DOWN and expect the red lights to come on. Depending on how close you are when the lights are switched to Yellow the driver MAY wait and let you go by. Although if you aren't even starting to slow down to acknowledge that the lights are Yellow they may pass on that courtesy just because you are being an idiot.

They should at least have yellow flashing lights and red flashing lights. Yellow lights mean that you should watch but you don't need to stop. If they are red flashing lights you have to stop. If there's lights flashing of any color and you see kids getting on or off the bus you should stop so you don't run anybody over.

If that stop sign is out and you can clearly see it, it means STOP, lights or NO lights.
RED lights flashing ALWAYS means stop. sign or no sign.
