how long does my hair have to be to start making dreads?
i like new hairstyles and i'm looking for a new one, i've had quite a bit and i want to give dreads a try. my hair is under a inch right now so how many inches should my hair be to start backcombing? my hair is really really really really curly, i have very tight curls so saying to wait until my hair is shoulder length will take quite a long time because of how tight my curls can be.

Hullo,
Generally 3 inches is considered just barely long enough to start dreads with backcombing (and that is the case with curly or straight hair). But do keep in mind that when you start dreads at that length they will stick up and be a bit nubby for a bit-- and that's true whether the hair is straight or curly, it's not been my experience that curly hair will end up shorter when dreaded than straight hair would have.
Best of luck! Feel free to use the link in my profile to email me if there's anything else I can do for you.
once you place your dredds in they are going to be approximately 0.5 as long via fact the unique hair length dont wash them for 3 or 4 months or they'll come out. yet as quickly as they are in they are in.
