With Israel getting $1 million a year, I was just wondering how much that was compared to the top players in the AFL. I mean, I can't even remember Folou kicking a ball, and now they're paying him to do it.

No one made a million last year but Ablett and Judd made a tad under, up in the 900's Top players would be paid anything from the 900's to the 650 mark.
Yes this is true. Then you can also look at the ridiculous amount that Andrew Bogut (Australian basketballer) is paid for playing in the NBA! It differs considerably for every sport. Our AFL is probably not as wealthy as some of the other sporting organisations. Australian cricketers are better known on the international stage and thats where we start seeing the big dollars. Cricket is everything to Indian people! Big pay deals in other sports are most probably associated with sponsorship deals and the wealth of the organisation that their club belongs to. A lot of players also make quite hideous amounts of money from endorsements. Of course, our footballers are probably hard done by because Andrew Demetriou is very busy taking money that could go to clubs and players and putting it into the Gold Coast and Western Sydney! Does anyone know how that new AFL stadium at Blacktown is coming along?
With the Rugby duds getting over a mill a year it will mean only one thing to the supporters. You know that pie that costs the AFL 43 cents and they sell it to us for $4.50. When Izzie and Karm are running around you should not be looking for change out of $10. WE will pay for the AFL's foolishness.
With the salary cap in place, the most you will ever find players recieve is About one million. Matthew Pavlich is on the brink of earning one million a year from Fremantle and blokes like Chris Judd are already racking in the big dollars.
