What weight class would you most like to see copy the Super 6 idea?

I would say Cruiserweight. Just imagine this weight class with mostly unknown fighters (at least to the average fan) Thses would be my Super 6

Good question. I'd like to see the welterweight division and the heavyweight division. The problem with both is that Pacquiao-Mayweather involves too much money, the reason we haven't seen it yet, and the heavyweight tournament could very possibly end with Klitschko vs Klitschko, which will never happen, nor should it.

I don't think it really matters anymore. Eventually, it would be great to see ALL classes copy the Super 6. But, as interesting as it sounds, you have to wonder how long it will be, after the unified champion is crowned, that one of the bogus "alpha-boys" would strip him of the title. Ever since the titles became split, with ALI's retirement, (few before), whenever there was a unification, the WBA would always place some unknown, and unproven contender, usually from it's native South America, at number one.

The champion is given a choice, face him or be stripped. The one thing Sugar Ray Leonard did was tell these organizations to go fly a kite. He was bigger than them and he knew it.

For a long time, Marvin Hagler was the only undisputed champion in boxing. How many times was he forced to fight Fulgencio Obelmejias? Each time, there was always another challenger who was more deserving. But Hagler valued his belts and never defied the organizations. What did he get for his loyalty? As soon as he FINALLY gets the fight he waited for, for YEARS, against Leonard, the WBA and IBF strip him.

So the IBF offers a fresh new idea that the WBA and WBC didnt. They're stationed in the US and claim they won't rank fighters the same way the others did. It worked for a day or two until they decided to do one better by getting themselves into legal trouble.

These organizations are "PIG VOMIT DISGUSTING!!!"

I really hate the way they work. How the HELL can Chad Dawson NOT be ranked in ANY organization? PLEASE explain THAT one to me.

They're SICKENING!!!, Having them in boxing at all is like being chained to a rock while your 500 pound ex mother n law sits on your face....................ON DAY 28!!!

I love the idea of tournaments. It would clean up boxing and create the chance that ONE champion would have meaning and the Number One ranking would once again mean something too.

I hope I'm wrong but I don't see boxing going to ONE CHAMPION per DIVISION, as it should. We can wish, can't we?...Show more

Heavyweight, although it is not the division with the best quality contenders.
As it is now, the division is a joke inside a joke of a joke inside a joke. Problem is, the joke is on us - the fans.
Nobody fights more than once a year. None of the top 10 contenders fight each other. The division is infested with freaks, convalescents and overgrown crusierweights. Make them fight each other for the heavyweight crown. Make it mandatory that the result be a unified, universally recognized world champion.
The Klits won't fight each other. Imagine if the Giants somehow faced the Colts in the Super Bowl and The Mannings refused to face off against each other or if the teams that the Molina brothers were catching for refused to play against each other in the World Series.
Klit vs Klit will never happen, even if it is the best possible match-up in the division - that is reality. But Klit vs whoever happens far too infrequently to generate any excitement and when any fight does occur it is far too frequently a gross mis-match.
There are approximately 328 versions of the heavyweight title, a belt for each alphabet organization. It has gotten so ridiculous that nobody is interested in the division anymore at all in all of N. America. The Klits might fill a soccer stadium in Germany or some country whose name ends in ania but couldn't fill a VFW on bingo night if they were giving tickets away for free in the US.
I wish that Pacquiao or Mayweather could gain 60 lbs and fight as heavyweights or that Holyfield wasn't 63 years old or that Arreola hadn't eaten those extra 206,499 servings of whatever he ate at all the buffets he has put out of business or that Valuev wasn't a 7' sasquatch with back hair as thick as Madonna's pubes or that at least a few of the heavyweights today didn't fight like waiters carrying plates on their heads in a posture contest and that maybe some had names that didn't sound like the bad guys in Call of Duty 4.
Either the powers that be create a tourney for the heavyweight division or the division should be eliminated entirely for lack of talent....Show more

Has to be 140, and I read HBO may try it. The best part of the 168 is that there are a lot of good fighters, but they are all pretty close - and not one is any kind of huge superstar. Its the same with 140, with a lot of guys very close near the top without (maybe JMM) any real star.

It makes for very good fights and drama, as fans get to know these elite level guys. I hope if they do it, the term of the tournament isn't as long as the current super 6....Show more
