I have a inground pool that came with a pool ionizer. I need to know how often to put it in the pool?

30,000.00 gallons was told to only use after opening now I think I need to use more often. Does any one have one of these and how often do you use it during the season? I still add chlorine each week. If I use it more often do I need to do that?
