Did he steal the car and if not did he know it was stolen? If so he is in fairly big trouble, but as a first offender will probably serve time and be paroled.

hes gonna do time will prob make parole in 1-2 years

Well, at least he'll have a full schedule for the next five years. He'll most likely get paroled in less than a year.
