well, first off how long has it been since your extraction? If the socket is healed then obviously it is safe to drink alcohol. If the socket is healed but you are still finishing up your prescription then obviously it isn't a good idea to drink. The reason dental professionals (usually the dental assistant) tells you to NOT drink alcohol after an extraction is because alcohol dries out the socket and/or can dislodge the blood clot. If there is not a blood clot formed or it has already been dislodged and you drink alcohol you are putting it right into your open socket which will be painful. Alcohol can cause what is called a dry socket which means you've lost the blood clot and the bone is exposed (very painful) in that case you will need to go back to your dentist to have it packed, maybe several times.

I just got all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled. I was recommended not to drink any alcohol while I'm on my prescriptions, and none for at least a week.

Alcohol doesn't mix well with the painkillers they gave me nor does it really have a good effect when you're fighting potential infections.
