help with 1999 new beetle starting?

so my wife washed her new beetle the other day and then it wouldn't start. I knew the starter was about to go so I just changed the starter. before I did however they checked the old starter. it did make a weird noise, however it still tried to start unlike when on the car. so I bought a new starter anyways to get rid of the bad noise. It was hot so I tried to roll down the windows. the power windows do not work at all. everything else works. also my wife had just broken the light on the door panel. I checked all the fuses and everything is good. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thank you in advance

tow truck to dealership for repair because you did not supply enough information. Starters do not normally go if the battery is powerful enough. They have a life of 5ish years then get another. Starters burn out on weak batteries. So, I would look at the battery. It takes a 5 watt lightbulb worth of power to run most of the stuff in your car....and 1000-watt lightbulb to crank over the engine.
That is the difference in juice required. So no power windows (which use a fair amount of juice) and no starting suggests "Battery" Have a charging check done on the car as well to be sure alternator is putting out.

Well if the windows do not work at all you either have a bad fuse or relay or the switch is bad. Have you checked to and see if your getting power from the switch. It could also be that when she was washing the car something got shorted out. The starter would have nothing to do with it.

you might need to tighten a belt
