I have a 97 Mustang gt want to know if it would be hard to swap it from aod to standard?
(i know it would be easy to trade it for a standard but i want to swap) so no smart A**** or dip shi**

it can be an easy job for an experienced tech if you are a weekend mechanic i would seek professional help even though the job is classified a bolt in job the knowledge as to what is needed to complete it will come from a tech who knows fords-greg

It's fairly labor intensive. The transmission mounts are the same, so that can be reused. The driveshaft is different, so you would need a manual driveshaft. You would need the whole manual pedal assembly, clutch quadrant and cable (just get an aftermarket adjustable cable, quadrant and firewall adjuster, don't mess with OEM stuff that breaks). Then you would need to get rid of the auto kickdown cable, get a flywheel to replace the auto flexplate, a new clutch to replace the torque converter. Drop the auto trans, put the flywheel and clutch in, lift up the trans and bolt it to the engine (the top 2 bolts are a PITA!!!!! to reach!!!!). Bolt on the rear trans mount, hook up the driveshaft, attach the clutch cable to the clutch fork. You would also need the center bezel trim and boot for the manual shifter, plus the shifter itself. Swap out the pedal assemblies, attach the cable to the manual pedal, adjust the pedal for the correct feel. Attach the shifter, bezel, boot, and knob. Finally, you would need to eliminate the wiring for the auto trans, and replace the auto ECU (which will be looking for signals from the transmission and trying to shift it) with a manual ECU. You will have to change the speedometer cable to a manual piece, as well, or your speedometer and odometer will not work.
If you know what you're doing, it can be done in a weekend for less than what it would cost to upgrade or replace an automatic.

go to junk yard find a standard that has been wreaked get clutch pedal out put it in yours or get new one your chose it is not that hard my not have shift light but it want hurt nothing

i dont even think its possible without totally overhauling the car. Even if it did fit physically and everything lined up the computer and ECU would be a nightmare to deal with and would always have problems.
