♪Hey Writers♫ Have you ever tried this writing exercise?

You put your iPod on shuffle for ten songs. Then you write down the scene that pops into your head while listening to the song until the next song comes on. You'll do the same for the next nine songs. Since all the songs are different, all the scenes should be different too. You must use your characters from your current book. Have you done this before? Is this a writing exercise you'd try?

i have done it before, i really like it! I usually do it for fanfiction, but i tried it once with original characters once and it kinda helped. i think i'll try it again now :)

No I haven't but I'm willing to give it a go :)

What I like to do to practice writing is put a tv programme on that I like and write a scene from it while I'm watching it...

*add* Luckily I've got the Ipod Shuffle so I can do it :)

No I haven't tried that. I have written poetry from my characters viewpoint before though.

This sounds like a really great way to come up with some good plot ideas and/or get your creative juices flowing.

I'm going to try this soon.

When I do have music in the background it insanely effects what ever mood I am in, which if writing one story that would not be good on shuffle.. But that is an excellent idea for writers block thanks :)

Actually, my MP3 player doesn't have shuffle. (That is really, really sad.)

I have tried something like this... unfortunately, none of my songs tended to fit with what I was writing (pop music doesn't really inspire fantasy writing).
