I was using my boyfriend's Yahoo account for 'Answers' and had built it up to level 6 or 7 ?

Then I opened my own email account on Yahoo 
and when I went to Yahoo ANSWERS they gave 
me this Identity.  

I wonder if there is a way to bring my 
old 'identity' with me.  I don't suppose it 
means anything, really, but I liked the 
name on my other Identity and was used to it.

Click  your avatar  and  go  to  "Edit My  Preferences"  and  it  says  "Change  Name"  remove  this  one  type  in  the  new on  --Click  Submit  and  it's  done

You cannot transfer the points (and history) from the other account.

You can use the same nickname on this account though.

Change user before you sign in.  It is your boyfriend's account and not yours.
