He is so skinny i feel it would be healthier for him to gain some weight. He eats dry cat food whenever he wants i always feed him properly, he is always outside doing his thing and running around. How would i go about this?

You should consult with your vet since making a cat "fatter" isn't the best thing to do. You cat may be at the perfect weight and not need to pack on extra pounds, since an obese cat is at risk for heart problems, diabetes and a number of other ailments. You really need to have him checked out to rule out any health issues, is he so thin that you can feel and see his spine? You don't mention his age so I am assuming that he is not an old cat. You say you are feeding him properly and he has access to dry food 24/7 are you also feeding him wet food also? If so then there is no need to increase his calories and he may just be a very active cat. I would though have him checked out by a vet since he may need de-worming meds, or ump-teen different reasons he's on the thin side. Better to be safe and get him a once over by a vet. Well, when I got my cats they were you know, regular size, kind of slim/skinny and they are indoor cats. but now my cat Garfield is so fat he looks like the cartoon Garfield now and I even fed him regularly! So since you said your cat does go outside he must be getting a LOT of exercise! I think thats a good thing. If you think your cat is too skinny for a normal cat, you could feed him some more helpings of his dry food. If you can feel his ribs, then it is definitely unhealthy and you should take him to the vet soon. I wish you don't seem to be severe. Obesity is solely as dangerous for animals as it's people. If you are severe (once more, I wish you don't seem to be)....but when you're, you are deliberately inflicting damage to an animal that is a criminal offense in all 50 states.

Get him to the cat to find out WHY he's skinny. Since you irresponsibly allow him to free roam he probably has worms or has picked up a disease from other cats.

If he's super skinny take him to the vet he may have a problem, but if not he probably just gets lots of exercise.
