How to run a fun Hold 'em League?

I get about 10 guys together, once a month, for a Hold 'em league. We only play $20 for the tourney game plus $10 each month for the final tourney in the spring. We use a simple point system (1-10) depending on how you finish each month. This determines your chip stack in the final tourney.
I feel like some people are losing interest. Without throwing more money into the game, what are some other "appropriate" ways to keep the game interesting and fun?

If people are losing interest, ask them.

We do similar, but have tourneys every week. It's just that the email goes out to a ton of people, so we'll have between 8 - 20 people each week. Still only $20. If you get bored, then skip a week.

Once a month is not that often. If they are losing interest, maybe they don't like poker that much.

Play with the blind structure, try having much higher antes in relation to the blinds to encourage looser play and so more action.
Sorry but most of the other things I can think of are only really applicable to cash games.
