I want an apple that is sweet and crispy (not mushy). What type of apple should I get?

pink lady is the best variety of apple just for eating like that. which also has the characteristics you want.

Red Delicious and Honey Crisp are good. Honey Crisp is not in season quite yet, usually late September into October. At least in my part of the world.

Do you like to bite them or slice them? It makes a difference.

Gala apples are real sweet and crispy.

If you can drive, go find a farmer's market. They'll have fresh apples and you can buy one of each variety and try them out.
