No Freddy Sanchez cannot play shortstop. He has had problems with his knee in the past which has limited his mobility. He hasn't played a single inning at short for the giants and i am not sure if he played it at all for the pirates. I do know that Giants head Trainer Dave Groeshner said that the change to short would do more harm than good to Freddy's knee. Hes a damn good second baseman deserving of a gold glove though. I am not sure about the O-Dog because I am a giants fans so i dont know much about him especially because he was an ex-dodger. I would think that he would have a better transition to short that freddie would though.

i think both are purely 2B, but the switch from 2b to SS is easier than say 1B to 3B or visa versa. I think at one point, Sanchez was able to play both, but of late, has gone for more 2B
