What's a good, decently-priced camera for a college freshman art major?

II want something small and sleek that takes really, REALLY good HQ pictures, especially in low light conditions-- my Kodak's night shots (or shots of anything dark, really) always come out embarrassingly grainy. Under $100, too. Easy to manage, resilient, good amount of settings but not too fancy, and won't distort when images are blown up (say, to the size of a poster). Any suggestions?

I'll tell you right now, you won't find a camera that fits that description for under $100. Under $300, maybe, but not under $100.

I would suggest anything from the Canon PowerShot series; they're all wonderful (I've used them myself), and very inexpensive. Durable, too!
Word of advice though--stay away from Nikon. Nikon makes really good professional and semi-professional cameras, but I've owned a few of their point-and-shoots, and the pictures all turn out super grainy :/

nothing under $100... not for your needs...

you'll probably get something about $200 second hand on ebay... really any camera will do...

you could use a compact...
