apple and winrar are they compatible?

I have a friend with an apple and am trying to get him to download winrar. he says they are not compatible and that he cannot download it but there are sites that seem to show they are. Does anyone have a site
where winrar can be downloaded by an apple user?

There is no version of WinRAR for Macs. But it's okay, because you don't actually need WinRAR to extract rar files. There's a free Mac program called Stuffit Expander that will work. In Windows, there's another program called 7-zip.

Winrar For Apple

.rar is a compressed file format, WinRar is a program that can compress and extract .rar, 7-Zip and WinZip do the same.

You don't need WinRar, you need a Mac program that can handle .rar compressed files.

Try RAR Expander:

or
UnRarX:

No. I have a mac. The don't work. I think the operating system. the new one lets them work. But after this mac ive had for 2 years, i would never ever go back to a pc. It is impossible to get a virus, and my computer runs as fast as it does the day i opened the box. So they might work. but even if the don't get a mac, and go to the mac sotre online at at the mall and by the games from there
