Could a collapsed disk be caused by Spina Bifida Occulta?

I was involved in a car accident 2 moths ago. I had X-Rays done and it was discovered that I had Spina Bifida Occulta of the L5 Vertabrae. That was the center of the pain. I went for an MRI and had the Dr read it. It was discovered that there was a collapsed disc between L4 and L5. All the others discs looked good. Could the collapsed disc been caused by the accident or the Spina Bifida, or would it have been there all along? I have an appointment with a specialist next week, but would like an idea of what is going on, before that. Thanks.

Spina Bifida is a birth defect so it would have been there all along. The collapsed disc was most likely caused by the accident.

It is never to late to be a cheerleader as long as you have the skills. Work on your flexibility, tumbling, and strength and you will be go to go as long as you are dedicated and work hard. Upper body and core strength are very important for tumbling and jumps as well as flexibility. Stretch daily and work on your splits. Also do conditioning drills to build your strength and stamina. I can give you information on the drills I have my cheerleaders work on at home if you would like. You can also go to tumbling classes, a lot of gymnastics facilities have "drop-in" tumble clinics that are normally $10 an hour or so where you can use the equipment and get spotted and learn new skills by the staff. You normally just go on the days/times they are available and sign in and pay when you get there with out having to register and pay a class fee with a commitment. Good luck and cheer on *\0/* -Kelsey

it really could be either one. There is no way of knowing. Especially since your occulta is in the same place.
