The kind of help you need may vary from country to country. It may be important to not disclose your discovery publicly until it is protected, otherwise any protection may be lost. Many commit their invention to paper using pen and ink and sketches plus description then sign and date it and have an unbiased witness (not a family member) who understands it to also sign and date it. This may help prove priority (who discovered it first).
