Flirting and dating advice?

Hi!
So, I really really really like this boy who just moved here this school year because he's really nice and funny and smart and plain out awesome. I really like him for his personality and at the very very very least, I want to be friends... AT THE LEAST. This is the worst (as in, most obsessive, I guess) crush I've ever had, so I think I'm ready to make a move....

BUT I've never flirted or dated before (I'm in eighth grade) and I don't want to make a fool of myself. I and him to know that I kinda like him and all, but I don't want it to be too obvious for the rest of the school to figure it out because I most definitely so NOT need any rumors, nor do I want someone else to be the one that tells him that I like him.

Because I've never really liked a guy this bad before, I don't really know how to flirt... ^.^; Again, I don't want it to be too obvious, but I want it to be just enough obvious that he knows... but not so much that the whole school knows.

Also, I want to know how to ask a guy out... in case he doesn't make a move... It seems a bit desperate in my opinion, but he's also a little shy, so I thought I should at least know HOW, right?

Hey Jacqui!!

I think that's a great question and let me try to help you out!

First of, do you talk to him as friend? If so, I will tell you what to do later on, but if you don't, then try to get to know him! So if you have him in any of your classes, maybe ask him what the homework was while smiling, or ask him how he did on a recent test or project while smiling. This will give him a good impression of you and will make him feel warm with you with friendly feelings. Then just keep asking him and starting little discussions and soon you will be talking constantly like good friends.

If he is not in any of your classes, then maybe when you walk past him, smile at him while you are looking at each other. Or, if he doesn't see you, then just bump into him "by accident" and say sorry while smiling. Then the next time you walk past him, just say "hi", or "hey, I'm the girl who bumped into you that time!" with a friendly smile. This should get his attention! After just keep saying hi and trying to start a conversation, maybe even find him on facebook and talk from there.

Now if you DO already talk to him, then talk to him even more. Start deeper conversations, talk to him additionally on facebook, get to know him better, and after a few weeks, if you see he is very friendly with you, ask him out to go to places with you. Like movies, or a park to just spend time together. If he is interested, he will accept to go with you alone, but if he is not ready yet to make a commitment with you, then he might decline or might want to go with other friends as well.

So you don't have to exactly "make a move", or "ask him out", but just ask to spend more time with him outside of school. This way, you aren't exactly going out, but just taking the next step in friendship, and if it goes well there, then that's the step for your relationship.
