Infant with Acid Reflux...Suggestions?

My daughter is almost 7 weeks old and has severe acid reflux. So far I'm feeding her smaller meals more frequently, keeping her upright a good amount of the day and night, I changed her formula, took her to the doctor and he gave her Zantac, and I'm thickening her formula with rice cereal. Does anyone else have any other suggestions on how to help soothe and calm reflux in infants?

Please and thank you<3

Be extra concious of what you feed her close to bedtime and slow down her feeding process. Make her take her time. You can do this by burping her a lot and often (even when not feeding). Keep her upright for about 20-30 minutes after feeding too. You could even try a different formula, but check with the doctor first.

The Zantac should work, my son had the same problem but it worked wonders. It should take a couple of days to really show results, so be patient and good luck!

Yes. If your baby is spitting up a lot that is a sign. My son had reflux and so did my daughter. My son was on medicine for it because when he had his reflux attacks he did not necessarily spit up rather he had bouts of apnea from it. He was a premie also so that was a big concern. My daughter had it and she was a full term baby. I took her to the hospital because I thought that she asperated on her vomit. Her pediatrician just told me to add a little rice cereal to her bottle and not to lay her down for at least 20 minutes after she ate. Also if you keep the head of his bed elevated a little with some blankets under the mattress that works well (just make sure that there are no gaps in between the mattress and the crib). If he does have it he will grow out of it in a few months.
