Comcast Atlanta, GA ISP internet speed/connection issues?

Has anyone with this service suddenly begun having these issues today? Intermittently, sometimes my connection is as slow as the old dial-up. Sometimes fails to connect at all.
Comcast support says it look like my modem may be the culprit, but I would just like to know if anyone else in the area is having a similar experience.

*Thanks Kenny. My service is back to working pretty much perfectly, with no changes to my equipment. I do expect that the "outages" were due to issues on the Comcast side of the network. I also suspect many more homes experienced these outages.
I only wish Comcast would be more forthright in owning up to issues with their network and infrastructure when they do occur.

Yeah, my problems started when we had the storms. Now my internet goes in and out with my modem. Still having problems, i'm tethered to my phone right now.
