Heck no, I didn't start playin' jams till my mid 50's. It is fun. I play with mostly a bunch of kids college age to 30's, and there are a couple of geezers (I'm 63) like me.

Edit; Playing with other musicians is a great way to improve your skills. Your timing should improve and playing with others is a good learning experience and you will soon find out when to just lay back and when you should wail. Actually I find it easier to play with other musicians than follow along on a recording. For some reason I just seem to know what notes to hit even if I'm not all that familiar with a particular song. It's like singing along with a group, your voice unconsciously knows what note you should be singing. Plus if you screw up they often will cover for you.

You are not going out there to be a Model on the covers of a magazine , for music you are not now or ever to old , I recommend you purchase the DVD called "Lighting in a Bottle with all the old blues men and ladies , some of the people on the DVD are twice your age . and some are not GO FOR IT and you have a wonderful wife to encourage you . Now about the magazine cover , NO lol

I work with a few older people doing some blue grass. I play acoustic guitar. There is a gentleman who is a fiddle player who is quite good.and has very nimble fingers considering he is 81, He picked up the fiddle at 60. So no, age means nothing.

Age has nothing to do with it I am only 27 but play with musicians over 60 sometimes in jams and small gigs because we love playing together no matter what age you are.

Never give up give up all your blood, sweat and tears
and by the time you are a empty sack of skin, thats when you could give up.
