Tougher generation my A-S-S LMAO! Jordan played in this generation at 40 years old and was scored 40 points! And hand-checking was still allowed by the league in 2003. To think Kobe hit only 40 points in the finals once. Count how many Jordan has. In the 80's the greatest era of basketball only 5 times that the 60 point mark has been cracked. 3 of them came from Michael Jordan. You say this is a tougher era because there are many good guards? Bring these guards to Jordan's era and he'll eat tham all. LMAO!
Fact is, Kobe didn't get his 35 PPG and 81 points until the NBA lowered their defensive teeth and prohibited the hand-check and paved the way for the defensive three second. As a result “If the refs perceive that a defender is bumping the cutter, or bumping a ball-handler, then they’ll blow their whistles.” as Rod Thorn puts it. As a result, the new rules interpretation helped promote the emergence of a new generation of super stars, from Kobe Bryant scoring his 81 points during a regular season game, to LeBron James, Vince Carter, Gilbert Arenas and Dwyane Wade making big splashes in the playoffs. LMAO.
Did you know that: 82% of Tyreke Evans's points came from inside of 15 feet and free throws combined? 75% of Dwyane Wade's points came from inside of 15 feet and free throws combined? 71% of Carmelo Anthony's points came from inside of 15 feet and free throws combined? 70% of Kevin Durant's points came from inside of 15 feet and free throws combined? 68% of LeBron James's points came from inside of 15 feet and free throws combined? 68% of Derrick Rose's points came from inside of 15 feet and free throws combined? 66% of Kobe Bryant's points came from inside of 15 feet and free throws combined?
Heck if these guys can get to the line and that near to the basket why can't Jordan, one of the purest cutters won't make it? LMAO! Even with the hand-check in tow defenders had a hard time defending Jordan what about now? “It would have been virtually impossible to defend Michael Jordan based on the way the game’s being called right now.” --- Joe Dumars
Just because he's getting a Finals MVP or championship doesnt make Kobe Jordan's equal in any way, how much more better?
15 seasons, 30,000 points. 14 seasons 25,000 points. Not even close. To think that Jordan had two seasons playing under 20 games at that. 1 time defensive player of the year, Jordan toys with Bryant in every aspect of the game.
Record in games with 30+ shot attempts
Michael Air Jordan: 72-57 (.558)
Kobe Bean Bryant: 46-61 (.368)
Michael Jordan shot his team to wins, Kobe Bryant shoots his team out of wins.
Regular season & Playoffs combined
Games with 12 or more assists
Michael Air Jordan: 32
Kobe Bryant: 19
Regular season & Playoffs combined
Games with 0 assists:
Michael Air Jordan: 7
Kobe Bryant: 57
Regular season & Playoffs combined
Games with at least 15 rebounds:
Michael Air Jordan: 10
Kobe Bryant: 5
Regular season & Playoffs combined
Games with at least 12 rebounds:
Michael Air Jordan: 66
Kobe Bryant: 29
Seasons with at least 200 steals:
Michael Air Jordan: 6
Kobe Bryant: 0
Seasons with at least 100 blocks:
Michael Air Jordan: 2
Kobe Bryant: 0
Seasons with at least 75 blocks:
Michael Air Jordan: 4
Kobe Bryant: 0
And don't even make talk about FG%. Michael averaged 35 points per game when he won defensive player of the year. The next closest scorer to win it had 27 ppg. Guards rarely receive Defensive Player of the Year. Think about the level of energy it takes to lead the league in scoring, and be the league's best defender. Jordan was the first player in NBA history to record 200 steals and 100 blocks in a season. He performed this feat in back-to-back seasons, making him the only player to achieve it multiple times. Hakeem Olajuwon and Scottie Pippen later achieved 200 steals and 100 blocks in one season. Michael Jordan game winning shot attempts was 33 out of 58, which is a 56.9% shooting percentage, while Kobe has attempted more game winners, and 82 games's website has a lest strict criteria, according to the facts, Kobe is a 27% career shooter in game winning situations.
Jordan vs. Kobe is not as simple as it seems.
Hope this helps. LMAO!

Kobe is an amazing athlete but so was Jordan. Times have changed and Kobe is playing tougher basketball than Jordan ever had to. I still think that Jordan will always be the true icon of the sport. Also, I like your profile pic.. Go Blazers!

Kobe>MJ>Lebron
?
in my mind he HAS to do it against miami to be in consideration for it. to beat 3 of the top 10 guys in the league shows that he really is the best or at least equal best.
even if he still gets final mvp say against boston or orlando, he'll still be #2 guard.
