What do you serve for Christmas Dinner?

Favorite Answer

We've had everything, from oysters and crab to steak/roast beef to ham or even turkey (yes, that close to Thanksgiving). But my favorite is roasted pork loin, marinated in red wine and spices (cardamom, coriander, etc.), and stuffed with fruit (prunes, apples). Sides have included different types of potatoes, greens, cabbage... And if there's any kringle left over from the morning, we have that and fruitcake and Christmas cookies for dessert, if anyone can fit dessert.

I'm thinking doing a Bootlegger Beef recipe made with a Canadian whiskey sauce and plenty of good sides (mashed potatoes or garlic mashed and vegs), appetizers (like shrimp and puff pastry ones), chocolate cream pie is always the favorite for dessert along with connolis and cream puffs made with homemade Anginetti cookies.

Whatever we feel like besides turkey. It's too soon after Thanksgiving to have turkey again. This year we'll probably have veal piccata (we have a ton of veal, long story), mashed potatoes, bacon gravy, and sourdough stuffing/dressing.

My mom always makes homemade lasagna. It's a Christmas tradition in our family.

I have always done baked ham for Christmas with mashed potatoes, rolls, fruit salad, deviled eggs, and pies. This year my son-in-law has invited us and he is cooking prime rib.
