Hello I have a 1991 oldsmobile 88 royale and I was wondering how much it would cost to get the struts replaced, because the front end seems to make a crunching sound when I go over low spots in the streets and I am certain that the struts are shot. Any advice or help would be great!

Auto Zone sells Gabriel struts which are pure junk! autopartswarehouse.com, partstrain.com, autopartsgiant and Carquest has KYB struts which are light years ahead of Monroe or Gabriel but cost the same as bargan store brands! Unless your suspension ride height is low you don't need struts with coil springs mounted on them. Advance Auto has TRW coil springs if you need them. Carquest has Moog coil springs and AC-Delco distributors sells coils made by Spicer. The crunching sound may be the front strut bearings which you can buy anywhere except Auto Zone.
Monroe Quick Struts which coil spring mounted as a package have a habit of jacking up the car too high. The spring rates and heights are all wrong.
The very best struts on the face of the Earth are sold by Bilstein and Koni. They're more expensive and you have to dig to find them on-line.
It depends on whether or not you get the whole strut assembly or if you try to replace just the shock. A lot of times parts stores will sell you just the shock and you have to use the old spring and bushings. I do not recommend that. Just a bit more expensive and you can easily replace the full strut assembly. For parts you will probably pay close to 200 if you want the full strut assembly.
