Some of the data you download is just there to make sure the rest of the data is valid. One example would be, if you download the binary 11000111, they might add an extra digit to the end, 0 if there is an even number of 1's, and 0 if there are an odd number. So if that extra digit didn't match, you would know that something went wrong during the download.

You can try to re-download. If that doesn't work, there's probably a problem in either your download software, or the file you are downloading.

If you're just downloading and saving, that would be an error on your hard drive. Run error checking (right-click the drive you're saving to/Properties/Tools tab).
