Hi Wally,

If astrophotography is your goal, get the Orion SkyView Pro. The Ioptron is an altazimuth mount, and will cause star trailing due to field rotation if used for imaging. One thing I'm not clear on is whether the Orion has input for an autoguider. Call Orion and check. If not, you might do better with an Orion Sirius, which is more robust and definitely does have an autoguider port. Although you may not need an autoguider at the outset, eventually you _will_, so make sure this option is available down the road.

I agree with Nyx. I think the Orion is a good, solid equatorial system. The Ioptron is an electronically simulated equatorial system. I don't think you need a CGE style blockbuster, but this Orion should work nicely.

Unsuitable. Those mounts are storebought.

For astrophotography mount the telescope in an English yoke.
