When was the last time you submitted your work?

I'm sorry I haven't been around as much. I've been pretty busy, including spending a lot of time doing what my question implies, writing and submitting material to various e-magazines and publications. So far I've had four pieces accepted.

Coming on here, I see some of my contacts are doing fine, others not so fine. My thoughts and well wishes are with all of you. We all have the written word in common, a love of reading, writing, or both. For those who write, I hope you have been able to keep at it.

And not just my contacts, but anyone else here who has a love of writing, I want to say KEEP AT IT!

Take care. I hope to be back on a more regular basis soon.

11 October, to Christopher Little (yeah, J K Rowling's agent) and to Penguin Books (who, in a moment of madness, decided to accept unsolicited submissions for a few months).

Christopher Little came back about a month later with a form rejection letter. They probably think they don't need another YA writer this decade... Penguin said they'd respond only if they were interested. I'm waiting to hear from another three agencies, but I'm not holding out much hope for a positive response. I'll try another batch of queries in the new year.

Congratulations on your acceptances, and to the other answerers who've had work accepted. If I could say anything worth saying in less than 100,000 words, I'd probably be trying my luck with short stories too...

Five months ago to a mid-sized magazine - I got the "we like it, but it doesn't fit our current direction - but please consider us again with your next submission" letter. I take that as very positive, since I don't write short fiction all that often.

I expect to be finished my current manuscript by late 2011 and will start the shopping around process for my third completed novel. Here's hoping third time's a charm is something more than a cute expression ;)

I submitted two pieces a few weeks ago. They're both being published in a speculative fiction magazine the day after tomorrow. Hooray!

Congratulations on your success!

Nowhere near submitting yet, unfortunately. Probably should stop procrastinating and get on with writing :)
