As of this writing (early Thursday morning) you have a secondary cold front dropping through the interior plains. Since this is basically a reinforcement of cold air, there is little moisture for this system to work with. The cold front associated with this cold air is expect to become weak as the upper level support continues to move more to the east by this evening. Energy that is entering the pacific northwest is expected to move into the upper plains by the end of the work week. this system may produce some stronger convective precipitation for the northern plains as this from moves quickly to the east. Models then drop even colder into the plains behind pacific cold front for late in the weekend. This should keep most of the US below normal in temperature. So expect the Northern Plains to remain in this cold pattern at least through the first half of next week.
