Question about shipping household items from the Philippines to the US and costs involved!?

I have a family friend who lives in the Philippines and makes incredible hand carved furniture. While living there we bought several items from him, and when we moved back to the states we left the furniture to the rest of the family there. I'd like to ship several items back here, but never looked into international shipping rates. I assumed it is very expensive to do this. Does anyone here have any experience with this?

Those hand carve furniture are heavy. Prices have drastically changed with fuel cost. You might want to inquire with a 'fowarder'. Found one online for you http://www.manilaforwarder.com/

For a 20 footer, the freight would be usd2000 - usd3000 which does not include the other charges like export declaration processing, customs clearing...this is both ex Cebu or ex Manila.

It will really be expensive because of the shipping costs plus import taxes and duties to be paid.
