Why do people who ask questions here often never visit the answer and leave a reply?

Why do so many people ask questions here, (I have replied to 622) and then seem to never bother to come back and look at the answers or acknowledge that people have taken the trouble to try to answer their questions. What is the point of asking questions on Yahoo Answers if you never look at the responses.

I am beginning to wonder why I and many other knowledgeable people who offer their time free should bother.

EDIT

I asked the question having already read the guidelines and it says 'to be courteous to others'. It s neither polite nor courteous to ask a question then not even take the trouble to return to it and say thank you to someone who helped you and then vote thus encouraging the person who answered to help others. That is not chatting.

I think many people don't KNOW that you are supposed to (or CAN) choose your own Best Answer -- or that there is a time limit to do so. From many of the questions you see, often folks don’t bother to read the rules or figure out how things work on here. They just jump in and start asking "silly" questions and let them expire by default. It's a shame, but how can you truly "play the game" if you don't learn the rules first?

Others simply forget, or have no time to return until too late.

But that is why I belong to the Yahoo Group, TieBusters! We are a group dedicated to voting for all those OLD tied questions. The link to the group is on my profile page (click my avatar).

because this is not a chat room and doing that is a violation. Suggest you read the guidelines and take the pop quiz
