Remington A-5 interchangeability question?

No, you didn't mis-read. I've got a Remington-made (but Browning stamped) Auto 5 (12ga), which was made in St. Louis (factory where the Model 11 was produced). Now here's my dilemma...

The Model 11 and A-5, while pretty much the same, lack some part interchangeability. And in my case, this gun already has a shorter Remington barrel on it, which leads me to believe the gun will accept parts designed for the Model 11. Is this correct or not?

Specifically, I'm looking to add a tube magazine extension on the end. Would I need one for the A-5 or the Model 11?

When I said "accept parts designed for the Model 11", I wasn't trying to see if they might fit. What I'm trying to figure out is whether or not the gun is just a re-badged Model 11 or if it is compatible with A-5 parts.

It seems the big issue is the barrels. Remington and Savage barrels will work on either the Model 11 or Savage 720, but neither will work on the Browning, or vice versa. There's a difference in the extractor system. And I don't know if this is the only difference or not, but they aren't the exact same guns. Yes, they function the same, but there are small part differences between them.

The answer eferrell has given you is totally correct. The Brownings during that time span were made by Remington using the Browning patent to do so. The gun is an exact duplcate of the humpback A-5 Browning. The parts for a model 11 Remington will not interchange with the Browning. To buy parts you must buy parts to fit an A5 Browning..

The Remington Model 11, made from John Browning's patent is the same as the Browning A5. The only difference is the maker. During WWII Browning(actually FN, as Browning never made guns) was unable to make the A5, so Remington made them under license for Browning. At any rate, here is the place to look for parts:
