I have DSL and it says 100mbps. Why is my computer videos slow?
my computer still slow for youtube videos or streaming videos of any kind ? I changed from regular modem to DSL to get faster videos. But it's not fast at all. I tried Mozilla, Google Chrome, and it does not make a difference.

Goto speedtest.net for a internet bandwidth test. It will tell you how fast your internet is.
Also it doesn't matter what hardware you have, it matters what package you are paying your internet provider for.
And lastly if you are accessing a slow website it doesn't matter how fast your connection is (although youtube and such shouldn't be too slow).
DSL speed doesnt make a difference for that. if it is 100mbps or 54 mbps or even 4 mbps . You know what , 4 mbps speed of a mobile for video buffering speed can be faster than your 100mbps.. Because 100mbps is the speed of your internet , not your bandwidth. Bandwidth depends on the type or package of connection you have ,is it unlimited downloads or limited downlaodsor anything . Well , it depends on the service that is providing you internet , it has nothing to do with internet speed.
I, too, get only 100mbps over my DSL service. In the DSL scheme of things that is still slow. To get the faster speeds needed to view high speed web content requires a much more expensive DSL connection. To watch videos in any kind of decent quality likely requires 300mbps or higher. Depending on where you live on your DSL line you may not be able to receive the higher speeds. I'm paying for 190mbps but I live "in the sticks", so I only get 100. I can't even watch Netflix movies! Talk with your service provider to see if faster service is available for you - and how much it will cost.
If it says 100Mbps its most probably the speed of your Local Area Network connection. Your modem is connected to your computer through a Ethernet card so the speed between the Modem and computer is 100Mbps. But your internet connection might be much slower.
The problem is not with your computer, it is with the internet, and the servers used by you-tube. A friend of mine has an expertly rigged and equipped AMD quad-core, lightning fast, and the you-tube vids always seem to be buffering on it too. It has nothing to do with this computer's drivers, rest assured, they are current, and this machine goes from powered off to the internet in fifteen seconds, flat ! As far as your provider goes, visit this site for an eye-opener: "http://www.speedtest.net/". As their motto goes: "Bandwidth is only part of the story!". Fast, free, informative, too ! (nobody ever gets the rated speeds as optimally quoted by their providers...nobody !)
