don't you dare give me completely unoriginal themes like a time period or something.
I need some really unique and interesting themes for the banquet at my school.
We need ideas that have a lot of options for food, clothing, decorations, music, etc.

Seeing as how it's a banquet....how about doing a "Port O'Call" theme....feature different ports in the way of an international theme: different foods from different countries that you think are the easiest or most interesting to do. Make your area seem like it's a cruise ship.
Use white tablecloths with navy runners down each one....incorporate brass and rope textures with candles and accessories....accent with a rich brown which will tie in with the nautical and rope feeling.
Give guests boarding passes. Hang up life preservers with a welcome banner between them. Get decorations with anchors, lanterns and do like a tablescape off to one side somewhere (where pics can be taken).
Have different countries featured throughout the tables in addition to the above suggestion...just a few "representative" pieces will get the idea across. Do an Italy theme (Chianti bottle, etc) for Italian food, a Mexico theme (lay some Mexican maracas crossing each other on the table)--maybe a French theme (wine, cheeses, Eiffel tower statue), UK theme, Australian theme (make a Didgeridoo yourself...a replica) to place on table, etc...you can go on and on.
Clothing....have them dress as if they were going on a cruise....if you have servers at the banquet (or hostesses)...have them dress in a bit of costume to represent the countries.
Have a roving photographer capturing pics of everyone like they do on cruises.
Play international music from all over...and this you can do the research on to see what songs to pick. Maybe go on a site like nutsie.com and search your request for that country's music and then create a playlist of your own. Also have songs that have to do with travel, water, etc (ex. "Sailing")
Party souvenirs....don't know if you're having them....something to do with small "travel bags"? Souvenir t-shirts engraved "Port O' Call International Senior Dinner 2011"
