Is it the Democratic Party or the Democrat Party?

If it's actually the Democratic Party, why do I see so many conservatives on YA refer to it otherwise? Conversely, why do the liberals call it the Democratic Party.

It's the "DEMOCRATIC" party. It has never been the "Democrat" party since Andrew Jackson. Rush Limpbaugh and his ignorant minions of brain dead teabaggers began calling it the Democrat party out of shear stupidity and when corrected, continued out of shear obnoxiousness for which they are famous.

This conservative derisively refers to them by their proper name. It is the "Democratic party". It was the Democratic-Republican party originally. Andrew Jackson became the first Democratic president in 1829. All of the incorrect answers are td

Democrat

Democratic is a form of government policy as is Republic, republicans aren't called the republic party.

If you think about it democrat is as misleading as liberal. True liberalism is actually the libertarian party (limited government), and true democracy is to the right of the liberalism (libertarian), between anarchy and libertarian (no government, rule of the people).
