how do i unlock tag duelists so i can get the booster packs for unlocking so many of them, do i get them when i pass that part of the story or do i have to beat them for them to be added

Well without knowing which one you are playing I can not say exactly. However with 2010 its usually a result of playing 3 matches against certain tag teams and summoning certain cards.
